DESCRIPTION:Juan will briefly reflect on his career in the nuclear sector
  against the backdrop of the industry’s historical ups and downs. The ta
 lk will then shift focus on the role of cogeneration and what is require
 d to reduce CO?-equivalent emissions beyond simply making electricity ge
 neration carbon-free. It will explore how nuclear heat can support the d
 ecarbonisation of industry and other energy uses\, while also helping to
  balance electricity supply by filling gaps in generation and enabling s
 urplus wind and solar power to be used more effectively.\n\nJoin in pers

 , hosted by Dalton Champions Nour Hammoud and Maria Kapousidou.\n\nAbout
  the speaker\n\nJuan Matthews is a nuclear technology expert with over f
 our decades of experience spanning research\, policy\, and international
  industry engagement. He began his career at the UK Atomic Energy Author
 ity’s Harwell Laboratory\, specialising in fast reactor and nuclear safe
 ty research. He later played a key role in the privatisation of AEA Tech
 nology\, managing materials and chemistry research\, before serving as R
 egional Director for Asia Pacific in Japan. Juan has also advised UK gov
 ernment departments on energy technology\, investment\, and the nuclear 
 supply chain. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Dalton Nuclear
  Institute.\n\nThis event is part of our Expert Insights Series...\nThis
