DESCRIPTION:Please note that this Network is open to all schools who are 
 Ambition Community Trust members.\n\nSEERIH\, at The University of Manch
 ester\, is a specialist hub which supports teacher development.\n\nTo fa
 cilitate forward planning in schools\, all three meetings are open to bo
 ok now. Please book tickets for the sessions you are able to attend. We 
 encourage teachers attend all sessions wherever possible\, in order to g
 et the most out of the experience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and estab
 lished primary science subject leaders of all experience levels to:\n- s
 hare and improve practice\n- speak with other subject leaders in your re
 gion about the issues that are affecting each of you.\n- engage in exper
 t-led professional development inputs to support you with up-to-date iss
 ues\, skills and resources.\n\nAttending these termly networks is an int
 eractive and practical way to help you to:\n- tackle the issues in your 
 school's science curriculum\n- support you in your role as a leader\n- r
 aise the profile of science\n- improve the outcomes for your pupils.\n\n
 Expectations of attending the network include engaging with pre-course t
 asks/reading and submitting your response to a gap task. This is a compu
 lsory element of the network to ensure the CPD is meaningful and impactf

 16:00\nEvery Child a Scientist: Inclusion and SEND in Primary Science\n\
 nHow can we make primary science truly inclusive for all learners? In th
 is SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore practical approaches to 
 supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
 \, with a strong focus on inclusive teaching that enables every child to
  participate and succeed.\n\nWe will cover:\n- What inclusive science lo
 oks like in practice and how to remove common barriers\n- Adapting enqui
 ries\, resources and classroom talk to support a wide range of needs\n- 
 Supporting vocabulary\, communication and engagement in science\n- Maint
 aining high expectations while meeting diverse learning needs\n\nYou wil
 l also have the chance to share ideas with colleagues and leave with sim
 ple\, effective strategies to take straight back to your classroom.\nSui

 :00\nMeasuring What Matters: Assessment in Primary Science\n\nWhat does 
 effective assessment in primary science look like? In this SEERIH-led ne
 twork session\, we will explore key principles of assessment that suppor
 t high-quality teaching and meaningful learning in science.\n\nWe will c
 over:\n- The purpose of assessment in primary science and what we should
  (and shouldn’t) be assessing\n- Approaches to assessing both substantiv
 e knowledge and working scientifically\n- Practical strategies for forma
 tive assessment in the classroom\n- Using assessment to inform teaching 
 without creating unnecessary workload\n\nYou will also have the opportun
 ity to share practice with colleagues and reflect on your current approa
 ch\, leaving with clear\, manageable strategies to strengthen assessment
  in your setting.\nSuitable for subject leaders\, class teachers and any
 one interested in developing effective primary science assessment.\n\n\n
 Summer term meeting: 16 June 2027\, 13:00-16:00\nThe Power of Talk: Orac
 y for Deeper Learning in Science\n\nHow can we use talk to deepen thinki
 ng and understanding in primary science? In this SEERIH-led network sess
 ion\, we will explore the role of oracy in developing pupils’ scientific
  knowledge\, reasoning and confidence.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The importan
 ce of talk in learning science and supporting all learners\n- Strategies
  to develop high-quality classroom dialogue and purposeful discussion\n-
  Supporting pupils to use scientific vocabulary accurately and confident
 ly\n- Practical approaches to embedding oracy within enquiries and every
 day teaching\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to share ideas with c
 olleagues and reflect on your current practice\, leaving with simple\, e
 ffective strategies to enhance oracy in your science curriculum.\nSuitab
 le for subject leaders\, class teachers and anyone interested in develop
 ing oracy in primary science.\n
