What is the reality of working in aid and global development?
Hear for yourself and exchange experiences with Pablo Yanguas, the author of the book Why We Lie About Aid (Zed Books, 2018).
If you have ever contemplated a career in aid or development, or your work involves working with those who do, this interactive discussion seminar is for you.
Yanguas will discuss with participants the challenges of working in a neglectful or even hostile donor environment, and ideas for reform and improvement of aid delivery. He will draw on his extensive experience researching the practice of development and advising on politically-smart and adaptive foreign aid for DFID, private providers, INGOs and the World Bank.
This discussion is open to students, academics, researchers, members of the public and anyone with an interest in working effectively with or understanding the aid sector.
