DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Political Economy Centre's hybrid book launch
  for Dr Barbora ?ernušáková's Surplus Lives Under Racial Capitalism.\n\n
 The book offers a powerful account of the relationship between political
  economy and anti-Roma racism in East Central Europe and will be of inte
 rest to anyone working on\, or wanting to learn more about\, racial capi
 talism\, labour\, post-socialism\, political economy\, and struggles aga
 inst racialised disposability. Through an investigation of the Czech lab
 our regime\, the book examines how race and class are produced together 
 rather than operating as separate structures of inequality. In doing so\
 , it also asks how the expansion of surplusing might create a shared ter
 rain of struggle capable of cutting across racialised divisions among wo
 rkers.\n\nThe launch will be run in a hybrid online/in-person format. Dr
  ?ernušáková will be joined in conversation about the book and the wider
  questions it raises by:\n\nDr Ryan Davey\, Lecturer\, Cardiff School of
  Social Sciences\, and author of The Personal Life of Debt: Coercion\, S
 ubjectivity and Inequality in Britain (Bristol University Press).\n\nDr 
 Stuart Shields\, Reader in Politics\, University of Manchester\, and the
  author of The International Political Economy of Transition: Neoliberal
  Hegemony and Eastern Central Europe's Transformation (Routledge RIPE Se
