DESCRIPTION:Please note that this Network is open to all schools who are 
 STOCCAT members.\n\nSEERIH\, at The University of Manchester\, is a spec
 ialist hub which supports teacher development.\n\nTo facilitate forward 
 planning in schools\, all three meetings are open to book now. Please bo
 ok tickets for the sessions you are able to attend. We encourage teacher
 s attend all sessions wherever possible\, in order to get the most out o
 f the experience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and established primary sc
 ience subject leaders of all experience levels to:\n- share and improve 
 practice\n- speak with other subject leaders in your region about the is
 sues that are affecting each of you.\n- engage in expert-led professiona
 l development inputs to support you with up-to-date issues\, skills and 
 resources.\n\nAttending these termly networks is an interactive and prac
 tical way to help you to:\n- tackle the issues in your school's science 
 curriculum\n- support you in your role as a leader\n- raise the profile 
 of science\n- improve the outcomes for your pupils.\n\nExpectations of a
 ttending the network include engaging with pre-course tasks/reading and 
 submitting your response to a gap task. This is a compulsory element of 
 the network to ensure the CPD is meaningful and impactful.\n\nYour timet

  a Scientist: Inclusion and SEND in Primary Science\n\nHow can we make p
 rimary science truly inclusive for all learners? In this SEERIH-led netw
 ork session\, we will explore practical approaches to supporting pupils 
 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)\, with a strong f
 ocus on inclusive teaching that enables every child to participate and s
 ucceed.\n\nWe will cover:\n- What inclusive science looks like in practi
 ce and how to remove common barriers\n- Adapting enquiries\, resources a
 nd classroom talk to support a wide range of needs\n- Supporting vocabul
 ary\, communication and engagement in science\n- Maintaining high expect
 ations while meeting diverse learning needs\n\nYou will also have the ch
 ance to share ideas with colleagues and leave with simple\, effective st
 rategies to take straight back to your classroom.\nSuitable for subject

 nce.\n\n\nSpring term meeting: 4 March 2027\, 13:00-16:00\nMeasuring Wha
 t Matters: Assessment in Primary Science\n\nWhat does effective assessme
 nt in primary science look like? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we
  will explore key principles of assessment that support high-quality tea
 ching and meaningful learning in science.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The purpo
 se of assessment in primary science and what we should (and shouldn’t) b
 e assessing\n- Approaches to assessing both substantive knowledge and wo
 rking scientifically\n- Practical strategies for formative assessment in
  the classroom\n- Using assessment to inform teaching without creating u
 nnecessary workload\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to share pract
 ice with colleagues and reflect on your current approach\, leaving with 
 clear\, manageable strategies to strengthen assessment in your setting.\

 g: 1 July 2027\, 13:00-16:00\nThe Power of Talk: Oracy for Deeper Learni
 ng in Science\n\nHow can we use talk to deepen thinking and understandin
 g in primary science? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will explo
 re the role of oracy in developing pupils’ scientific knowledge\, reason
 ing and confidence.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The importance of talk in learn
 ing science and supporting all learners\n- Strategies to develop high-qu
 ality classroom dialogue and purposeful discussion\n- Supporting pupils 
 to use scientific vocabulary accurately and confidently\n- Practical app
 roaches to embedding oracy within enquiries and everyday teaching\n\nYou
  will also have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues and refle
 ct on your current practice\, leaving with simple\, effective strategies
  to enhance oracy in your science curriculum.\nSuitable for subject lead
 ers\, class teachers and anyone interested in developing oracy in primar
 y science.\n
