DESCRIPTION:Please note that this Network is open to all schools who are 
 in Stockport.\nSEERIH\, at The University of Manchester\, is a specialis
 t hub which supports teacher development.\n\nTo facilitate forward plann
 ing in schools\, all three meetings are open to book now. Please book ti
 ckets for the sessions you are able to attend. We encourage teachers att
 end all sessions wherever possible\, in order to get the most out of the
  experience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and established primary science
  subject leaders of all experience levels to:\n- share and improve pract
 ice\n- speak with other subject leaders in your region about the issues 
 that are affecting each of you.\n- engage in expert-led professional dev
 elopment inputs to support you with up-to-date issues\, skills and resou
 rces.\n\nAttending these termly networks is an interactive and practical
  way to help you to:\n- tackle the issues in your school's science curri
 culum\n- support you in your role as a leader\n- raise the profile of sc
 ience\n- improve the outcomes for your pupils.\n\nExpectations of attend
 ing the network include engaging with pre-course tasks/reading and submi
 tting your response to a gap task. This is a compulsory element of the n
 etwork to ensure the CPD is meaningful and impactful.\n\nYour timetable:

 cientist: Inclusion and SEND in Primary Science\n\nHow can we make prima
 ry science truly inclusive for all learners? In this SEERIH-led network 
 session\, we will explore practical approaches to supporting pupils with
  Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)\, with a strong focus
  on inclusive teaching that enables every child to participate and succe
 ed.\n\nWe will cover:\n- What inclusive science looks like in practice a
 nd how to remove common barriers\n- Adapting enquiries\, resources and c
 lassroom talk to support a wide range of needs\n- Supporting vocabulary\
 , communication and engagement in science\n- Maintaining high expectatio
 ns while meeting diverse learning needs\n\nYou will also have the chance
  to share ideas with colleagues and leave with simple\, effective strate
 gies to take straight back to your classroom.\nSuitable for subject lead
 ers\, class teachers and anyone interested in inclusive primary science.

 tters: Assessment in Primary Science\n\nWhat does effective assessment i
 n primary science look like? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we wil
 l explore key principles of assessment that support high-quality teachin
 g and meaningful learning in science.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The purpose o
 f assessment in primary science and what we should (and shouldn’t) be as
 sessing\n- Approaches to assessing both substantive knowledge and workin
 g scientifically\n- Practical strategies for formative assessment in the
  classroom\n- Using assessment to inform teaching without creating unnec
 essary workload\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to share practice 
 with colleagues and reflect on your current approach\, leaving with clea
 r\, manageable strategies to strengthen assessment in your setting.\nSui

 2 June 2027\, 09:15-12:15\nThe Power of Talk: Oracy for Deeper Learning 
 in Science\n\nHow can we use talk to deepen thinking and understanding i
 n primary science? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore 
 the role of oracy in developing pupils’ scientific knowledge\, reasoning
  and confidence.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The importance of talk in learning
  science and supporting all learners\n- Strategies to develop high-quali
 ty classroom dialogue and purposeful discussion\n- Supporting pupils to 
 use scientific vocabulary accurately and confidently\n- Practical approa
 ches to embedding oracy within enquiries and everyday teaching\n\nYou wi
 ll also have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues and reflect 
 on your current practice\, leaving with simple\, effective strategies to
  enhance oracy in your science curriculum.\nSuitable for subject leaders
 \, class teachers and anyone interested in developing oracy in primary s
 cience.
