DESCRIPTION:This session will discuss the use of artificial intelligence 
 in medical research\, exploring current applications\, ethical implicati
 ons\, and the challenges of undertaking meaningful research as a surgica
 l trainee. The session will also address equality\, diversity\, and incl
 usion (EDI)\, considering how AI and research structures can both reinfo
 rce and challenge existing disparities in healthcare and academia. The f
 acilitator of this session will be Dr. James Connor. James (he/him) bega
 n his career as a physiotherapist\, and after having worked in both Irel
 and and New Zealand made the switch to medicine. He is currently a surgi
 cal trainee in Dublin coupling surgical training with a passion for medi
 cal research.
