DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore how AI is currently used and planned to be
  used in the nuclear industry.\n\nAI is increasingly being discussed wit
 hin the nuclear sector\, yet much of the conversation is shaped by uncer
 tainty\, misconception\, and speculation. 'Demystifying AI and its Appli
 cations in Nuclear' will explore how AI is currently used and how it is 
 planned to be used across both fission and fusion\, placing these develo
 pments within a clear and objective context. It will explore the realiti
 es of AI in practice\, while also addressing some of the common myths th
 at surround its capabilities and its development within the industry.\n\
 nThe discussion will consider both the potential benefits and the limita
 tions of AI\, challenging perspectives on what it can and cannot deliver
  in a highly regulated and safety critical environment. Attention will b
 e given to how AI can be implemented in a way that is ethical and safe\,
  reflecting on the importance of responsibility\, oversight\, and trust.
  It will open a broader conversation around the role of AI in the nuclea
 r industry and the challenges and opportunities that come with its integ

 nAbout the speaker -\nDr Emily Collins - researcher in Computer Science 
 looking at trustworthiness\, responsibility\, and accountability of AI a
 gents with links to the nuclear industry and she is also part of CRADLE.
 \n\nThis series brings together leaders from the Dalton Community and ou
 r partners to share their views and experiences across the breadth of nu
 clear with a wider audience. The series is hosted by the Dalton Champion
 s - members of Manchester's nuclear research community who work to enhan
 ce the Dalton network. Champions are based throughout the University\, r
 epresenting the many departments in which nuclear related research takes
  place.
