DESCRIPTION:SEERIH\, at The University of Manchester\, is a specialist hu
 b which supports teacher development.\n\nTo facilitate forward planning 
 in schools\, all three meetings are open to book now. Please book ticket
 s for the sessions you are able to attend. We encourage teachers attend 
 all sessions wherever possible\, in order to get the most out of the exp
 erience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and established primary science sub
 ject leaders of all experience levels to:\n- share and improve practice\
 n- speak with other subject leaders in your region about the issues that
  are affecting each of you.\n- engage in expert-led professional develop
 ment inputs to support you with up-to-date issues\, skills and resources
 .\n\nAttending these termly networks is an interactive and practical way
  to help you to:\n- tackle the issues in your school's science curriculu
 m\n- support you in your role as a leader\n- raise the profile of scienc
 e\n- improve the outcomes for your pupils.\n\nExpectations of attending 
 the network include engaging with pre-course tasks/reading and submittin
 g your response to a gap task. This is a compulsory element of the netwo
 rk to ensure the CPD is meaningful and impactful.\n\nYour timetable:\n\n
 Autumn term meeting: 17 November 2026\, 13:15-16:15\nEvery Child a Scien
 tist: Inclusion and SEND in Primary Science\n\nHow can we make primary s
 cience truly inclusive for all learners? In this SEERIH-led network sess
 ion\, we will explore practical approaches to supporting pupils with Spe
 cial Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)\, with a strong focus on 
 inclusive teaching that enables every child to participate and succeed.\
 n\nWe will cover:\n- What inclusive science looks like in practice and h
 ow to remove common barriers\n- Adapting enquiries\, resources and class
 room talk to support a wide range of needs\n- Supporting vocabulary\, co
 mmunication and engagement in science\n- Maintaining high expectations w
 hile meeting diverse learning needs\n\nYou will also have the chance to 
 share ideas with colleagues and leave with simple\, effective strategies
  to take straight back to your classroom.\nSuitable for subject leaders\
 , class teachers and anyone interested in inclusive primary science.\n\n
 \nSpring term meeting: 2 March 2027\, 13:15-16:15\nMeasuring What Matter
 s: Assessment in Primary Science\n\nWhat does effective assessment in pr
 imary science look like? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will ex
 plore key principles of assessment that support high-quality teaching an
 d meaningful learning in science.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The purpose of as
 sessment in primary science and what we should (and shouldn’t) be assess
 ing\n- Approaches to assessing both substantive knowledge and working sc
 ientifically\n- Practical strategies for formative assessment in the cla
 ssroom\n- Using assessment to inform teaching without creating unnecessa
 ry workload\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to share practice with
  colleagues and reflect on your current approach\, leaving with clear\, 
 manageable strategies to strengthen assessment in your setting.\nSuitabl

 ng effective primary science assessment.\n\n\nSummer term meeting: 15th 
 June 2027\, 13:15-16:15\nThe Power of Talk: Oracy for Deeper Learning in
  Science\n\nHow can we use talk to deepen thinking and understanding in 
 primary science? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore th
 e role of oracy in developing pupils’ scientific knowledge\, reasoning a
 nd confidence.\n\nWe will cover:\n- The importance of talk in learning s
 cience and supporting all learners\n- Strategies to develop high-quality
  classroom dialogue and purposeful discussion\n- Supporting pupils to us
 e scientific vocabulary accurately and confidently\n- Practical approach
 es to embedding oracy within enquiries and everyday teaching\n\nYou will
  also have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues and reflect on
  your current practice\, leaving with simple\, effective strategies to e
 nhance oracy in your science curriculum.\nSuitable for subject leaders\,
  class teachers and anyone interested in developing oracy in primary sci
 ence.\n
