DESCRIPTION:Come and see this free exhibition in the Samuel Alexander Gla
ss Corridor space at The University of Manchester. \n\nCombining archiva
l research with natural pigments screen printed on cotton\, Colours in t
he Field unearths the colonial legacies of India’s extractive cotton mon
ocultures and their connections to Manchester. Through stories of strugg
le\, courage\, and hope\, it foregrounds the experiences of women farmer
s in India and asks how they might be forging more viable pathways as th
ey transition to agroecology.\n\nZig-zagging between past\, present\, an
d future\, the exhibition invites the audience to explore how colonial h
istories sediment\, recombine\, and mutate\, producing presents fissured
with possibilities for building futures ‘otherwise’.\n\nExhibition co-p
roduced by Dr Arianna Tozzi (Researcher) and Himanshi Parmar (Artist).\n
\nThe project was funded by the Simon Industrial and Professional Fellow
