Abstract: Full-3D transmission Ultrasound Tomography (UST) of the breast using full-wave inversion is computationally challenging because of a large number of simulations required for computation of each iteration of an associated iterative algorithm for solving this nonlinear inverse problem. Additionally, full-wave inversion methods require a good initial guess, which is often provided using a ray-based UST method. My talk is about an efficient two-point ray-based inversion approach for full-3D tomography of the breast using a shooting method. I will start with an introduction about UST. I will then explain a two-point ray tracing approach based on a shooting method, and how we extend it to a 3D geometry for full-3D UST of the breast. Finally, I will present our numerical results. This talk may be more interesting for researchers working in the fields related to inverse problem, seismic imaging or acoustics.
