DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Bill Lionheart (University of Manchester)\n\nTitle:
At last an SVD for EIT\n\nAbstract: 40 years ago when I started working
on Electrical Impedance Tomography I thought I should look for an analyt
ical form of the singular value decomposition of some simplified lineari
zed case. I would like to report some modest progress..... An interest
ing feature is that the case I chose to look at turns out not to be co
mpact and has a purely continuous spectrum. But it does have an explicit
diagonalization. I think there are some interesting lessons for using
a numerical SVD of a discretized problem to understand the underlying co
 ntinuum problem.\n
