DESCRIPTION:Bookings are open for all three termly meetings of the SEERIH
  GM Open Primary Science Subject Leader Regional Network 2026-2027.\n\nP
 lease note that this Network is open to all schools in Wigan and those t
 hat are inegible in their local Network. Please email fascinate@manchest
 er.ac.uk if you are unsure which Network to join.\n\nSEERIH\, at The Uni
 versity of Manchester\, is a specialist hub which supports teacher devel
 opment.\n\nTo facilitate forward planning in schools\, all three meeting
 s are open to book now. Please book tickets for the sessions you are abl
 e to attend. We encourage teachers attend all sessions wherever possible
 \, in order to get the most out of the experience.\n\nThe network welcom
 es new and established primary science subject leaders of all experience
  levels to:\n-share and improve practice\n-speak with other subject lead
 ers in your region about the issues that are affecting each of you.\n-en
 gage in expert-led professional development inputs to support you with u
 p-to-date issues\, skills and resources.\n\nAttending these termly netwo
 rks is an interactive and practical way to help you to:\n-tackle the iss
 ues in your school's science curriculum\n-support you in your role as a 
 leader\n-raise the profile of science\n-improve the outcomes for your pu
 pils.\n\nExpectations of attending the network include engaging with pre
 -course tasks/reading and submitting your response to a gap task. This i
 s a compulsory element of the network to ensure the CPD is meaningful an

 6\, 13:00-16:00\n\nEvery Child a Scientist: Inclusion and SEND in Primar
 y Science\n\nHow can we make primary science truly inclusive for all lea
 rners? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore practical ap
 proaches to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabil
 ities (SEND)\, with a strong focus on inclusive teaching that enables ev
 ery child to participate and succeed.\n\nWe will cover:\n\nWhat inclusiv
 e science looks like in practice and how to remove common barriers\nAdap
 ting enquiries\, resources and classroom talk to support a wide range of
  needs\nSupporting vocabulary\, communication and engagement in science\
 nMaintaining high expectations while meeting diverse learning needs\nYou
  will also have the chance to share ideas with colleagues and leave with
  simple\, effective strategies to take straight back to your classroom.\
 n\nSuitable for subject leaders\, class teachers and anyone interested i
 n inclusive primary science.\n\n\n\nSpring term meeting: 3 March 2027\, 
 13:00-16:00\n\nMeasuring What Matters: Assessment in Primary Science\n\n
 What does effective assessment in primary science look like? In this SEE
 RIH-led network session\, we will explore key principles of assessment t
 hat support high-quality teaching and meaningful learning in science.\n\
 nWe will cover:\n\nThe purpose of assessment in primary science and what
  we should (and shouldn’t) be assessing\nApproaches to assessing both su
 bstantive knowledge and working scientifically\nPractical strategies for
  formative assessment in the classroom\nUsing assessment to inform teach
 ing without creating unnecessary workload\nYou will also have the opport
 unity to share practice with colleagues and reflect on your current appr
 oach\, leaving with clear\, manageable strategies to strengthen assessme
 nt in your setting.\n\nSuitable for subject leaders\, class teachers and
  anyone interested in developing effective primary science assessment.\n
 \n\n\nSummer term meeting: 23 June 2027\, 13:00-16:00\n\nThe Power of Ta
 lk: Oracy for Deeper Learning in Science\n\nHow can we use talk to deepe
 n thinking and understanding in primary science? In this SEERIH-led netw
 ork session\, we will explore the role of oracy in developing pupils’ sc
 ientific knowledge\, reasoning and confidence.\n\nWe will cover:\n\nThe 
 importance of talk in learning science and supporting all learners\nStra
 tegies to develop high-quality classroom dialogue and purposeful discuss
 ion\nSupporting pupils to use scientific vocabulary accurately and confi
 dently\nPractical approaches to embedding oracy within enquiries and eve
 ryday teaching\nYou will also have the opportunity to share ideas with c
 olleagues and reflect on your current practice\, leaving with simple\, e
 ffective strategies to enhance oracy in your science curriculum.\n\nSuit
 able for subject leaders\, class teachers and anyone interested in devel
 oping oracy in primary science.
