Presentation Overviews:
Dr Helen Holmes | Helen will discuss a 12 month interdisciplinary pilot project which aims to draw together social science and material science to explore the phenomenon of fly-tipping. Whilst waste has been a topic of much investigation in recent years, little attention has been paid to circumstances when waste infrastructures are deliberately disregarded and disrupted. Through the lens of circular economy this project explores the impact of fly-tipping within the UK, why it is occurring, from what sources, and how it may be tackled.
D?r Kira Allmann | Manchester City Council has set out a new digital strategy for the city, which aims to make Manchester a world leader in digital transformation to improve residents’ lives and achieve our net zero target by 2038. This presentation will introduce the themes and priorities of the digital strategy, how researchers and other communities across Manchester can get involved, and what big challenges and opportunities lie ahead in synchronising the city’s digital, sustainability, and social responsibility aims.
