DESCRIPTION:The School of Social Sciences and Department of Law are delig
 hted to host the 2026 Annual Harry Street Lecture delivered by an alumnu
 s of our school and leading figure in the legal and political sphere\, T
 he Rt Hon Lord Hermer KC\, Attorney General of the UK Government. \n\nFu
 ll details on the lecture synopsis will be revealed soon. The Harry Stre
 et Lecture has run every year (with few exceptions) since 1985 and has b
 een given by an impressive roll call of leading figures from the worlds 
 of law and politics. Harry Street\, a well-known British jurist and lega
 l scholar\, spent much of his time at the University of Manchester where
  he developed a keen interest in civil liberties and the law of torts. T
 his lecture series aims to highlight the vast work of those in the legal
  and political fields and invites people to engage with something new. \
 n\nEvent Details: \n\nThe lecture will be delivered as a hybrid event. T
 hose attending online will be sent a separate online link closer to the 
 event. Online attendees will be able to submit questions via the chat fu
 nction\, which will be read to the speaker by a member of staff during t
 he Q&A. \n\nThe lecture will run for approximately 45 minutes\, followed
  by a Q&A session\, and will conclude with an hour networking reception 
 in the North Entrance foyer for in-person attendees starting at 6pm. \n\
 nImportant Access Information: \n\nThe lecture theatre has limited wheel
