DESCRIPTION:The seminar will unveil emerging work on Ecological Islamopho
 bia: Muslim Experiences of Environmental Harm in East London\, examining
  how environmental issues such as poor air quality\, contaminated land\,
  polluted spaces and neighbourhood neglect affect Muslim residents in th
 e London Borough of Newham. Working in partnership with the Sisters Foru
 m and Abbey Mills Mosque\, the study explores how environmental harm int
 ersects with faith\, identity and everyday life\, while highlighting the
  wider social and health impacts of environmental inequality. Abbey Mill
 s Mosque\, which has faced years of uncertainty due to contaminated land
 \, offers an important case study of ecological Islamophobia and its con
 sequences for Muslim communities. This research also lays the foundation
  for a future AHRC Curiosity Grant\, which will compare these experience
 s with those of a low-carbon eco-mosque to explore how environmental jus
 tice can help reframe environmental identity and contribute to a more pl
 uralistic and inclusive Britain in the context of persistent Islamophobi
