DESCRIPTION:Medicine and health science relies on a variety of methods\, 
 but do they establish the same thing? It is not uncommon that the availa
 ble evidence points in different directions with respect to causality. I
 n the standard evidence hierarchy\, the priority in case of conflicting 
 evidence is clear. In this presentation\, I will argue that the differen
 t methods provide some indication of causality\, but that none of them a
 re perfect for the task. I will also indicate how different types of qua
 litative and quantitative evidence can be combined to fill in each other
 ’s blind spots. The argument presented is based on collaborative work wi
 th Elena Rocca and Stephen Mumford\, and work done in the CauseHealth pr
