DESCRIPTION:Michael Brennan\, Laura Towers\, Kate Reed and Kylie Baldwin
will discuss Living and Dying\, one of the Morgan Centre’s new research
themes.\n\nJoin us for the first event in the Morgan Centre In Conversat
ion series. Kate Reed (University of Manchester)\, Kylie Baldwin (Loughb
orough University)\, Laura Towers (University of Manchester)\, and Micha
el Brennan (University of Greater Manchester) will discuss Living and Dy
ing\, one of the Morgan Centre’s new research themes. The conversation w
ill explore how life and death are experienced in the everyday\, examini
ng how birth\, illness\, reproduction\, dying and bereavement are woven
into daily routines and relationships\, and shaped by wider inequalities
\, social structures and emerging technologies. What does it mean to stu
dy the “everydayness” of life and death? What assumptions do we make abo
ut a “good” birth\, a “good” death or “good” care? And how can researche
rs approach these intimate and sensitive experiences ethically?
