DESCRIPTION:Guernsey-born pianist Tom Hicks\, hailed for his magnificent 
 pianism and engaging personality\, is a Yamaha Artist with an internatio
 nal profile. He has performed as a recitalist across Europe and the Unit
 ed States. As a concerto soloist\, he has appeared on more than 60 occas
 ions\, including complete cycles of the Rachmaninoff and Brahms Piano Co
 ncertos. He is also an accomplished chamber musician\, performing the qu
 intets of Dvorak\, Schumann\, Schubert\, and Brahms\, among others.\n\nH
 is latest release\, Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes\, has earned a Supers
 onic Award from Pizzicato alongside a review praising ‘the most impressi
 ve interpretations possible’. James Harrington (Fanfare) says that ‘this
  recording now occupies the top position of [his] list for the complete 
 Nocturnes.’ Hicks’s 2019 album of John Ireland and Tchaikovsky\, followe
 d by two 2022 releases: Liszt and Ireland Piano Sonatas for Divine Art\,
  and Blue Sounds for Métier\, all received high critical acclaim\, and t
 he former was selected for American Record Guide’s Critics’ Choice. He a
 lso appears on Augusta Read Thomas’ latest album\, having collaborated w
 ith her on several original works. \n\nHe studied in Guernsey with Mervy
 n Grand\, Manchester with Murray McLachlan\, Yale with Boris Berman\, an
 d Northwestern with James Giles\, earning numerous prizes and a Doctorat
 e in Musical Arts. He launched the Fanny Davies International Piano Seri
 es in 2019 and continues to volunteer as Artistic Director\, and is Assi
 stant Professor of Piano\, Director of the Piano Area\, and Artistic Dir
 ector of the International Piano Series at the College of Charleston.\n\
