DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Hemansu-Roy Trivedy\, former UN Resident Coodinator 
 in Timor-Leste\n\nDrawing on Blanchard and Hersey’s work on leadership\,
  this presentation will focus on three areas: (i) situational leadership
 \; (ii) working as part of a team\; and (iii) resilience. Trivedy will t
 alk about his personal experience of finding out how and why these areas
  are important and how he used them in his work and career.\n\nHemansu-R
 oy Trivedy is retired from full-time work. Since 2024 he is the Honorary
  Consul of Timor-Leste in Scotland. He is also a Trustee for ActionAid U
 K. He works as a part-time\, volunteer mentor for the United Nations and
  for the Institute of Development Studies\, University of Sussex\, Brigh
 ton\, UK. He is also a volunteer for ‘Cycling Without Age\, Scotland\, a
  charity that enables older people in care homes to enjoy the outdoors.\
 n\nRoy served as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Timor-Leste 
 from February 2018-November 2022 and as the UN Resident Coordinator and 
 UNDP Resident Representative in Papua New Guinea from December 2013 to D
 ecember 2017. Prior to that\, he worked for the Department for Internati
 onal Development UK for 13 years. He was a Senior Civil Servant for the 
 UK and served in various positions including as: Head of Civil Society D
 epartment (2009-2013)\; Team Leader for the UK White Paper (Building our
  Common Future 2009)\; Head of DFID Tanzania (2006-2008)\, Programme Man
 ager Central Asia and the Caucasus (2003-2005)\; and Conflict Adviser (A
 frica) 2000-2003.\n\nRoy joined DFID after 20 years of working for non-g
 overnmental organisations including Oxfam UKI and Save the Children (UK)
  in the UK\, Mozambique\, India and Malawi. He studied at the Institute 
 of Development Studies\, University of Sussex\, and the University of Sh
 effield.
