DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Konstantin Bogdanov (University of Manchester)\n\nTi
tle: Infinite-dimensional Thurston theory in holomorphic dynamics\n\nAbs
tract: Thurston's Topological Characterization of Rational Functions is
one of the main tools in complex dynamics. It provides a criterion of wh
en a topological model of a rational function with finite critical orbit
s is realized by a rational map. The standard proof involves a study of
a natural dynamical system on the associated Teichmüller space.\n\nSimil
ar dynamical systems can also be defined for infinite critical orbits an
d more general holomorphic functions (e.g. entire transcendental). Howev
er\, in this case the Teichmüller space is infinite-dimensional hence mo
re complicated for analysis. In the talk\, I will try to give an accessi
ble introduction into the subject and discuss already existing generaliz
ations of Thurston's theorem in the infinite-dimensional setting.\n\nRoo
