DESCRIPTION:Please note that this Network is open to schools who are in O
 ldham.\n\nSEERIH\, at The University of Manchester\, is a specialist hub
  which supports teacher development.\n\nTo facilitate forward planning i
 n schools\, all three meetings are open to book now. Please book tickets
  for the sessions you are able to attend. We encourage teachers attend a
 ll sessions wherever possible\, in order to get the most out of the expe
 rience.\n\nThe network welcomes new and established primary science subj
 ect leaders of all experience levels to:\n\nshare and improve practice\n
 speak with other subject leaders in your region about the issues that ar
 e affecting each of you.\nengage in expert-led professional development 
 inputs to support you with up-to-date issues\, skills and resources.\n\n
 Attending these termly networks is an interactive and practical way to h
 elp you to:\ntackle the issues in your school's science curriculum\nsupp
 ort you in your role as a leader\nraise the profile of science\nimprove 
 the outcomes for your pupils.\n\nExpectations of attending the network i
 nclude engaging with pre-course tasks/reading and submitting your respon
 se to a gap task. This is a compulsory element of the network to ensure

 ion and SEND in Primary Science\n\nHow can we make primary science truly
  inclusive for all learners? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we wil
 l explore practical approaches to supporting pupils with Special Educati
 onal Needs and Disabilities (SEND)\, with a strong focus on inclusive te
 aching that enables every child to participate and succeed.\n\nWe will c
 over:\n\nWhat inclusive science looks like in practice and how to remove
  common barriers\nAdapting enquiries\, resources and classroom talk to s
 upport a wide range of needs\nSupporting vocabulary\, communication and 
 engagement in science\nMaintaining high expectations while meeting diver
 se learning needs\n\nYou will also have the chance to share ideas with c
 olleagues and leave with simple\, effective strategies to take straight 
 back to your classroom.\n\nSuitable for subject leaders\, class teachers

 ing: 11 March 2027\, 13:00-16:00\n\nMeasuring What Matters: Assessment i
 n Primary Science\n\nWhat does effective assessment in primary science l
 ook like? In this SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore key princ
 iples of assessment that support high-quality teaching and meaningful le
 arning in science.\n\nWe will cover:\n\nThe purpose of assessment in pri
 mary science and what we should (and shouldn’t) be assessing\nApproaches
  to assessing both substantive knowledge and working scientifically\nPra
 ctical strategies for formative assessment in the classroom\nUsing asses
 sment to inform teaching without creating unnecessary workload\n\nYou wi
 ll also have the opportunity to share practice with colleagues and refle
 ct on your current approach\, leaving with clear\, manageable strategies
  to strengthen assessment in your setting.\n\nSuitable for subject leade

 \n\nThe Power of Talk: Oracy for Deeper Learning in Science\n\nHow can w
 e use talk to deepen thinking and understanding in primary science? In t
 his SEERIH-led network session\, we will explore the role of oracy in de
 veloping pupils’ scientific knowledge\, reasoning and confidence.\n\nWe 
 will cover:\n\nThe importance of talk in learning science and supporting
  all learners\nStrategies to develop high-quality classroom dialogue and
  purposeful discussion\nSupporting pupils to use scientific vocabulary a
 ccurately and confidently\nPractical approaches to embedding oracy withi
 n enquiries and everyday teaching\n\nYou will also have the opportunity 
 to share ideas with colleagues and reflect on your current practice\, le
 aving with simple\, effective strategies to enhance oracy in your scienc
 e curriculum.\n\nSuitable for subject leaders\, class teachers and anyon
 e interested in developing oracy in primary science.\n
