DESCRIPTION:This is a reminder for our next seminar on Health and Health 
 Systems in the Global Context (HHSGC). This is an interdisciplinary semi
 nar series which aims to bring together researchers interested in broade
 ning the understanding and tackling some of the most pressing challenges
  faced by health systems globally. The series provides a forum for inter
 disciplinary exchange\, showcasing theoretical and empirical research\, 
 policy analysis\, and implementation insights from diverse regional\, di
 sciplinary and methodological perspectives. \n\n\nTopic: Achieving Unive
 rsal Health Coverage in Indonesia: Lessons from the JKN National Health 
 Insurance\nIndonesia has made significant progress towards Universal Hea
 lth Coverage (UHC) through the implementation of the Jaminan Kesehatan N
 asional (JKN)\, one of the largest single-payer health insurance systems
  in the world. Launched in 2014\, JKN now covers over 270 million people
 \, representing a major policy achievement in expanding access to health
 care in a lower-middle-income country context.\nThis talk will provide a
 n insider perspective on the design\, implementation\, and evolution of 
 JKN\, drawing on Professor Ghufron’s direct leadership experience. It wi
 ll examine key policy and operational challenges\, including financing s
 ustainability\, service delivery capacity\, and equity in access\, as we
 ll as strategies adopted to address these issues. The seminar will also 
 reflect on lessons learned from Indonesia’s UHC journey\, with implicati
 ons for other countries pursuing large-scale health system reform.\n\nTh
 e session will be of particular interest to those working in global heal
 th\, health policy\, and health systems research\, offering practical in
 sights into the complexities of implementing UHC in diverse and resource
 -constrained settings.\n\n\nAbout the speaker: Professor Dr Ali Ghufron 
 Mukti is a Professor from Universitas Gadjah Mada and has extensive expe
 rtise in health policy\, health financing\, and universal health coverag
 e. He is a former President Director of BPJS Kesehatan\, Indonesia’s Nat
 ional Health Insurance Agency\, and Vice Minister of Health of the Repub
 lic of Indonesia. He previously chaired the preparatory working group fo
 r Indonesia’s National Health Insurance scheme and has held senior leade
 rship roles across government\, higher education\, and global health.\n\
