DESCRIPTION:This event will mark the launch of a new report on 'Strengthe
 ning Ethical Practice in Qualitative Humanities and Social Science Resea
 rch'\, funded by the University of Manchester’s Enhancing Research Cultu
 re Fund. The study engages with the experiences of UK academics on obtai
 ning ethical clearance for projects with human subjects and sheds light 
 on the current strength and limitations of the system.\n\nThe report lau
 nch will be followed by two roundtables featuring speakers from the Univ
 ersity of Manchester and beyond. Speakers will reflect on the institutio
 nal and practical challenges of navigating research ethics in UK higher 
 education institutions. A second panel will pay particular attention to 
 research conducted with communities populations and international partne
 rs\, including non-academic actors.\n\nThe room and final speaker list w

 le and context-sensitive engagement beyond institutional boundaries.\n\n
