 l Policy and Analysis Lab\, University of Manchester.\n\nWith the releas
 e of the updated Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) in November\, this 
 is a chance to dig into the rationale\, methodology and uses of the data
 .\n\nMeasuring relative deprivation across seven domains\; Income\, Empl
 oyment\, Education\, Skills and Training\, Health and Disability\, Crime
 \, Barriers to Housing and Services\, and Living Environment\, as well a
 s deprivation affecting children and the elderly. The IMD gives a pictur
 e of relative deprivation across 33\,755 neighbourhood areas in England.
 \n\nThe dataset forms part of the evidence base for billions of pounds o
 f public and private investment expenditure due to decisions that are ma
 de using it. From education to healthcare\, insurance to commercial deve
 lopment\, the IMD touches many parts of our lives.\n\nThis event brings 
 together domain experts and data practitioners to help people understand
  the data and answer questions about its underlying methodology\, what t
 he data does and doesn't say\, and insights derived from the latest rele
