DESCRIPTION:The Behaviour Change Meeting Group at The University of Manch
ester has the purpose of bringing together academics and clinicians acro
ss several institutes who are working with behaviour change\, interventi
on development and/or implementation theory. We usually meet online on t
he first Thursday of the month at 3pm\, inviting external speakers and i
nternal speakers to discuss and gain feedback on their latest research i
n the field. We have a range of health and clinical psychologists in the
group as well as epidemiologists\, nurses and physiotherapists who work
with a range of different short-term and long-term conditions in differ
ent contexts (public\, patient and healthcare professional groups).\n\nI
f you would like to be added to the email list to hear about future meet
ings\, please contact Rhiannon Hawkes: rhiannon.hawkes@manchester.ac.uk
\n\nOur next Behaviour Change Meeting will be held on Thursday <b>7th Ma
 y 2026 at 3pm</b> \, where we have <b>Dr Neil Howlett</b> from the Unive
rsity of Hertfordshire presenting on <b>‘Analysing behaviour change tech
niques in evidence synthesis’.</b>\n\nNeil has over 15 years of research
experience in the areas of behaviour change and public health\, with a
particular interest in physical activity. Neil's expertise includes: des
igning\, implementing\, and evaluating interventions to help individuals
 \, communities\, and populations change a range of health behaviours\; s
ystematic reviews and meta-analyses\; behaviour change theories\; polic
y and research briefings\; pragmatic evaluations of public health progra
mmes. Neil has achieved circa £7.5m of grant funding including the NIHR-
funded PHIRST Connect Team. Neil also works with the UCL hub of the NIHR
-funded Policy Research Unit in Behavioural and Social Sciences. The tal
k will explore the journey Neil has taken through several published syst
ematic reviews to analyse behaviour change techniques using a range of m
ethods\, while reflecting on the (sometimes) painful lessons learned and
why he keeps saying the latest review is the last review he will do (bu
 t never really means it).\n\n\n[https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-joi
