DESCRIPTION:How can creativity be mobilised to build solidarities\, creat
e community care networks\, and offer healing?\n\nWe ask how creativity
can be mobilised to build solidarities\, create community care networks\
, and offer healing from the violent systems within which many Muslim ar
tists and creatives exist.\n\nWhile creative health is evidenced as offe
ring people access to wellness through creativity\, racism and Islamopho
bia often repress and constrain the creativities of Muslims and racialis
ed people\, impacting community health and wellbeing.\n\nDespite this\,
many Muslims mobilise creativity as a vital tool of joy\, activism\, sel
f-determinism\, and a way to build solidarities and practice refusal and
resistance.\n\nCreativity offers practice-based mediums for sharing her
itage\, faith and new urban identities in intra-Muslim\, secular and mul
ti-faith spaces. It can build a sense of place for Muslim artists and cr
eatives that re-affirms belonging and counters alienation.\n\nWe are als
o interested in hearing from academic researchers from geography and cog
nate disciplines and/or researcher-practitioners who work at the nexus o
f creative practice and community health and well-being.\n\nAudiences sh
ould be aware that discussions may cover difficult topics such as experi
ences of Islamophobia and hostile systems such as Prevent. There is no e
xpectation on participants to share beyond what they feel comfortable wi
th.\n\nThe workshop will include four short presentations by guest speak
ers bridging research and practice\, and there is time allocated for lun
ch\, networking and group discussion.\n\nA vegan and vegatarian lunch wi
ll be served at this event
