DESCRIPTION:Gaps and Challenges Along the Innovation Lifecycle: The Role
of Innovation Intermediaries\n\nSpeakers: Dr. Guendalina Anzolin\, Prof.
Eoin O’Sullivan\, Dr. Viktória Döme\nChair: Prof. Elvira Uyarra\nAbstra
ct: \n\nOver the past decade\, the need to sustain technological change
has increasingly demanded the collaboration of diverse actors along the
innovation and industrial lifecycles. While R&D activities remain centra
l to discussions on innovation\, the process itself extends to a wider r
ange of activities that are provided by a different set of organisations
. The emerging challenges on the technology side raise questions about t
he activities that publicly funded organisations undertake to fill the g
aps\, as well as about a ‘division of labour’ between organisations that
act at different stages of the innovation life cycle. The way in which
organisations coordinate (or not) provides preliminary evidence on the r
ole they play in their local ecosystem. We will present the results of a
comparative project examining the High Value Manufacturing Catapult in
the UK and the Manufacturing USA Institute MxD in the US\, as well as in
sights from our work on intermediaries in Singapore.\n\nSpeaker Bios:\n\
