Title: On self-extensions of irreducible modules over symmetric groups
Abstract: We work within the context of the modular representation theory of symmetric groups. A conjecture going back to the eighties claims that there are no, non-trivial, self-extensions of irreducible modules over fields of odd characteristic. In this talk we will present a new approach to this problem and verify the conjecture for several cases. This is a joint work with S. Kleshchev and L. Morotti.
