Shostakovich Two Scarlatti Pieces
Mussorgsky arr. Howarth Pictures at an Exhibition
Brass Ensemble take centre stage with a sure favourite - Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Contrasting this is a lesser known work by Shostakovich, a quirky arrangement of two pieces by the Baroque Master Scarlatti.
Estival returns again in June 2011 and promises to be bigger, better and more Russian than ever. Taking place in the final week of each academic year, Estival is always a great carnival filled with music and art celebrating the end of exams and looking forward to the summer! This year culminates in a performance of Shostakovich's masterpiece, the 5th Symphony.
