DESCRIPTION:Ensayos\nfor musical multimedia and occasional acoustic perfo
rmers\n\nThe series of Ensayos or essays on Live Coding are works of liv
 e 'tweaking' sound art\, which I call 'edit-performances'. In part\, I a
m interested in the boundaries (and possible misinterpretations by the a
udience!) between computer language and natural language projected on sc
reen. Although these pieces are not really traditional live coding\, as
much code is prepared beforehand\, edits to the code as well as new line
s are compiled and performed live in front of the audience and projected
on screen. Photography and text chunks are also presented algorithmical
ly and related to the essays. The relative messiness of the screen share
d with the audience reflects the coexistence of the many media formats a
nd the way composers think (although this may be at the geek end of the
scale). Occasionally\, I like to interact with live acoustic instruments
to highlight a cyborgian view of computer music and explore the emotion
al world that results from placing the machine in a human context.\nThe
ensayos attempt a media art take on the essays of French renaissance ess
ayist Michel de Montaigne (1533-92). In his essays Montaigne contemplate
s a topic and freely moves between quotation of the classics\, his every
day experiences and his own philosophical musings. His writing is fresh
and varied and likely to leave the reader with more questions than answe
rs. In this he is a role model for me. I have tried to use sounds that e
licit instant visual associations and play with their meaning\, juxtapos
ing\, mixing and transforming. But I am also interested in the hyper lin
king spirit of Montaigne's referencing and the potential for plundered m
edia to help enrich the poetic message.\n\nFREE\n\n\n\n
