Title: Filtered skew power series rings
Abstract: Skew polynomial rings show up naturally as group algebras, universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, coordinate rings of quantum groups, and so on: they are a well-studied classical object, and their structure is reasonably well understood. In this talk, I’ll introduce and motivate the related notion of skew power series rings, explain why much less is known about them, and present some recent work (joint with Adam Jones) that sheds light on the prime spectra of these rings in some important cases of interest.
