DESCRIPTION:Friendly\, practical workshops run by leading naturalists. Fr
 om wild food-foraging and composting to bird song and insect identificat
 ion\, explore biodiversity on our doorstep.\n\nJoin Amanda Bamford\, Pro
 fessor of Plant Sciences at the University of Manchester\, to study biod
 iversity on our doorstep\, as we look to identify the species living wit
 hin the university grounds. We will be trialling the brand-new app\, UMA
 PIT\, exploring the idea of citizen science and contributing to our know
 ledge of the local flora and faunal communities found in the urban centr
 e of Manchester.\n\nThere will also be an opportunity to carry out pond 
 dipping\, which will require advanced registration\, as we must register
  all participants to get access to the area of the campus where the biod
 iversity garden is situated. Mobiles or tablets with the free app\, UMAP
 IT\, downloaded will also be beneficial but not essential. As aspects of
  this event will be hosted outside and will require a short amount of tr
 aveling between buildings\, please take weather conditions into account.
