Title: Chabauty and p-adic heights
Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss the method of Chabauty and Coleman, which is a powerful method to determine rational points on curves satisfying a certain rank condition. In some cases, when this condition is violated, we can use another variant of the method, called quadratic Chabauty, which involves p-adic heights. We will discuss the (linear) quadratic Chabauty on even degree hyperelliptic curves. Additionally, we briefly explain how to compute p-adic heights on hyperelliptic curves. This is joint work with Steffen Müller.
