DESCRIPTION:This year's Harry Street lecture will be delivered by Lucy Po
 well\, MP for Manchester Central. \n\nShe is an extremely active member 
 of Parliament and served as a Shadow Education Secretary from 2015 to 20
 16.\n\nSince her election Lucy has campaigned hard against the Governmen
 t’s cuts to Manchester’s public services\, the privatisation of the ambu
 lance services \nand the Bedroom Tax. She has been a passionate advocate
  of better childcare provision\, help for small businesses and more appr
 enticeships for young people. \nShe is also conducting an inquiry into h
 ow reinvigorate politics and increase voter turnout locally\n\nHer prese
 ntation will focus on the role and functions of MPs in the UK system. \n
 \nThis very topical lecture will be held on Thursday November 15th at 5p
 m\, followed by\na drinks reception at 6pm.
