 Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Manchester\, City of London\, and Cambridge Ce
 ntres to promote inclusive research activities.\n\nHosted every two mont
 hs\, this series aims to shine a spotlight on various equity\, diversity
 \, and inclusivity topics in cancer research.\n\nOur next seminar focuse
 s on gender inequity\, and how research institutions are planning to add
 ress these issues.\n\n\n\nAbout the Talk\nProf Rachel Cowen is Universit
 y of Manchester's lead for EDI with a responsibility for Gender and Sexu
 al Orientation. Her work in academic development focuses on how to addre
 ss structural inequities in HEI systems to ensure that the next generati
 on of researchers is more representative of the society in which we belo
 ng.\n\nRachel will explore the history of women in academic positions\, 
 demonstrating how her work aims to build inclusive practice\, train and 
 develop leaders\, and embed the University's overall commitment to Athen
 a Swan\, tackling barriers to access\, progression and attainment.\n\n\n

 hel Cowen\n\nRachel is a Professor of Inclusive Researcher and Academic 
 Development\, and University Lead for Equality Diversity and Inclusion a
 t the University of Manchester.\n\nHer work within and outside the Unive
 rsity aligns with her vision and commitment to create an inclusive work 
 and study environment at Manchester and across the UK HE sector such tha
 t diverse people feel they belong\, have equity of opportunity to thrive
  and achieve their full potential.\n\nShe has led an “Inclusive Manchest
 er” Campaign promoting inclusive leadership and collective action for al
 l staff and students. This includes development and leadership of an int
 erdisciplinary undergraduate credit bearing unit “Equality\, Diversity a
 nd Inclusion: Your role in shaping a fairer world” open to all students 
 at Manchester.
