DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that the second FBMH Faculty Sympo
 sium on the Future of Teaching and Learning will take place on 16 Decemb
 er 2025. \n\nThis full-day event (09:00–16:15) will explore innovative a
 nd practical approaches to learning and teaching across the Faculty of B
 iology\, Medicine and Health.  \n\nAttendance from across FBMH (T&L\, re
 search\, academic and PS) is encouraged.\n\nThe Symposium will have keyn
 ote talks on blended learning in large cohort teaching\, the future of d
 igital learning at UoM and how to engage and support students en masse.\
 n\nThese sessions will address future-facing themes in higher education\
 , including AI\, flexible learning\, and inclusive curriculum developmen
 t.\n\n<b>Key Areas and Workshops</b>\n\nAttendees will take part in inte
 ractive\, parallel workshops designed to explore key areas of innovation
  in teaching:\n\n• <b>Active self-feedback: Empowering students to write
  assessment-feedback for themselves.</b> A practical look at assessment 
 strategies and innovations in applied settings.\n\n• <b>AI-Empowered Tea
 ching "Given the trajectory and speed of AI development\, what are teach
 ers for?"</b> Examples and provocations on using generative AI to enhanc
 e learning design and delivery.\n\n• <b>Aligning Play with Purpose: Peda
 gogical Gamification in Higher Education.</b> How game elements can tran
 sform engagement and learning outcomes in your units.\n\n• <b>Enhancing 
 Lab Practicals with Active Learning.</b> Approaches to reinvigorate trad
 itional lab sessions with active\, student-centred strategies.\n\n• <b>E
 ngaging and Supporting Students in Large Group Settings.</b> Explore str
 ategies\, tools\, and mindsets to promote belonging\, engagement\, and i
 nclusivity in large lectures and cohorts.\n\n• <b>Taking Your Units to t
 he Next Level – Canvas Transition and Beyond.</b> Take a practical look 
 at unit design\, digital pedagogy\, and post-transition enhancement on C
 anvas.\n\n• <b>Engaging and Supporting Students in Large Group Settings.
 </b> Explore strategies\, tools\, and mindsets to promote belonging\, en
 gagement\, and inclusivity in large lectures and cohorts.\n\n• <b>Taking
  Your Units to the Next Level – Canvas Transition and Beyond.</b> Take a
  practical look at unit design\, digital pedagogy\, and post-transition 
 enhancement on Canvas.\n\nEach participant will be able to choose one wo
 rkshop per session (morning and afternoon). These parallel sessions offe
 r practical tools\, collaborative discussion\, and examples of best prac
 tice directly from your peers.\n\nPoster Showcase and poster presentatio
 ns from across all schools in the faculty\, highlighting the innovations
  in all fields and programmes in BMH\n\nA complimentary networking lunch
  will be provided\, and information desks\, stalls\, and live demonstrat
 ions will be available throughout the day in Stopford Building.\n\nWe lo
 ok forward to seeing you there for a day of creativity\, collaboration\,
  and community.
