DESCRIPTION:Exploding Women Event\n\nAiming to bring together different c
 ommunities and audiences\, Manchester Histories in collaboration with co
 medy duo LipService\, explode the myth of women in science\, exploring t
 he lives of five of Manchester’s most influential female scientists. Set
  up in an ‘out of the ordinary’ venue (a University laboratory)\, the ev
 ent reveals the achievements and impact on society of Kathleen Drew - Mo
 ther of the Sea\, Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw – Rubik’s cube expert and ma
 ths genius who was Deaf from aged 8\, Caroline Birley - fossil hunter\, 
 Marie Stopes - palaeobotanist and Dame Margaret Beckett – metallurgist.\
 n\n“It’s very rare that members of the public get to see inside the teac
 hing laboratories\, which will hopefully add to the ambience of the perf
 ormance. The staff in my team are busy thinking of interesting exhibits 
 and curiosities that can be put out in the lab for the audience to inter
 act with before the show and we are looking forward to an entertaining p
 erformance from LipService.  We are delighted to welcome both the perfor
 mers and audience members into one of our laboratories for this unique e

 5.30 - 7pm in the 1SUGT Annexe\, Stopford Building as part of Wonder Wom
