DESCRIPTION:(via Zoom)\nJoin us for this seminar by Linglang Yuan (Liverp
ool) as part of the North West Seminar Series in Mathematical Biology an
d Data Sciences. Details of the full series can be found here https://ww
 w.cms.livjm.ac.uk/APMSeminar/\n\nPlease contact carl.whitfield@mancheste
r.ac.uk or bnvasiev@liverpool.ac.uk for the zoom link\, or sign up to th
e mailing list.\n\nAbstract: The Lenski experiment is a corner stone in
Experimental Evolution\, and has been running since 1988. It investigate
s the long-term evolution of bacterium E. coli. I will talk about the
individual-based and continuum mathematical modelling of the bacteria po
pulation to describe how the population fitness evolve over time. The t
alk will be mainly based on the following works:\n\n 1. (with A. Gonz
 alez-Casanova\, N. Kurt\, A. Wakolbinger) An individual-based model for
the Lenski experiment\, and the deceleration of the relative fitness. St
ochastic Processes and Their Applications. 126(8)\, 2211-2252\, 2016.\n\
n 2. A generalization of Kingman's model of selection and mutation and
the Lenski experiment. Mathematical Biosciences. 285\, 61-67?\, 2017.
\n\n 3. Kingman's model with random mutation probabilities: convergenc
e and condensation I. Journal of Statistical Physics. 181(3)\, 870–896\
, 2020.\n\n 4. Kingman's model with random mutation probabilities: con
vergence and condensation II. To appear in Advances in Applied Probabili
ty. March 2022.\n\n\nTo subscribe to the mailing list for this event ser
