DESCRIPTION:On 4th February 1966 Jodrell Bank intercepted signals from th
 e Soviet Luna 9 spacecraft which had landed on the Moon the previous day
 . and printed them on a borrowed newspaper fax machine. These were the f
 irst ever pictures sent from the surface of the Moon. On the fiftieth an
 niversary of this landmark event\, Professor Tim O’Brien will talk about
  the role of Jodrell Bank in the space race from its detection of the Sp
 utnik rocket in 1957 to the Moon Landings in 1969. He will also invite c
 ontributions from some of the people who worked at Jodrell Bank at this
