DESCRIPTION:10am-1pm. Specially devised for museum professionals and crea
tive practitioners\, this brand new edition of the highly popular and th
ought-provoking Curating for 2012 will explore links between everyday ob
jects and museum collections. From the start New Object Lessons has been
fascinated by the close relationship between the local and global\; thr
ough its Diversity Challenges and its curatorial conversations\, it has
invited participants to reconsider their views and understanding of Engl
ishness and glocal identities\; using a non racialised and non-stereotyp
ical approach to developing sustainable cross cultural content. Curating
for 2012 and Beyond will focus on themes relevant to both the Cultural
Olympiad and the forthcoming centenary commemoration of WW1. The startin
g point of this exciting curatorial journey will be a watch\, a pack of
cornflakes and a bottle of coca cola. This programme will provide an ide
al platform to reflect on the importance of shelf-learning at a professi
onal level. \n\nCurating for 2012 was created in 2008 by a local histori
