DESCRIPTION:This workshop is open to UoM academics who are eligible to ap
 ply for external funding.\n\nOne Health is a broad interdisciplinary app
 roach that addresses health issues at the human-animal-environment inter
 face. As global challenges such as climate change\, urbanisation\, pollu
 tion\, disease\, inequality\, and biodiversity loss escalate\, the need 
 for such an integrated approach to address interlinked health crises bec
 omes ever more pressing.\n\nThe focus of this workshop is on:\n\nHow cha
 nging environments have altered interactions at this interface that driv
 e infectious disease (in humans\, livestock and/or wildlife)\;\nThe miti
 gation of negative health impacts through building/maintenance of sustai
 nable environments with high biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.\nTh
 e aims of the workshop are to:\n\nIdentify novel groups of researchers w
 ith interests in collaboration on One Health and Infectious Disease in A
 frica\nMap potential topics for collaboration\nExplore links to the Univ
 ersity of Manchester’s Africa strategy\nIdentify potential future fundin
 g opportunities\nThis workshop will bring together researchers from acro
 ss the University who are working in\, or would like to work in\, this s
 pace\, including\, but not limited to: biologists\, medics\, mathematici
 ans\, social scientists\, geographers\, engineers and economists. We env
 isage that while some researchers might work on infectious disease direc
 tly\, others may work on factors that affect interactions and disease tr
 ansmission indirectly\, e.g. water availability\, urbanisation\, land us
