Abstract: As one of the key ingredients that allow deriving Khinchin-like theorems for manifolds, counting results are important in Diophantine Approximation. Traditionally, these have been obtained using a method first introduced by Bernik, based on Sprindzuk's technique of essential and inessential domains. In this talk we present a novel approach to derive a counting estimate for algebraic points close to analytic curves, which relies on a quantitative non-divergence result of Kleinbock, Margulis and Wang. This is work in progress.
