DESCRIPTION:A joint initiative between the GDI Students for Palestine gro
 up and the Global Urban Futures and Resource\, Environment and Developme
 nt research groups.\n\nThis hybrid session will focus on understanding t
 he links between urban and infrastructural transformation and destructio
 n in the face of the current genocide in Palestine\, with a focus on set
 tler colonialism\, urban planning\, and environmental justice.\n\nPresen

 lanning Unit\, UCL:\nIn this presentation I aim to discuss settler colon
 ial urbanism(s) in Palestine\\Israel\, while exploring the different spa
 tial and political typologies developed during the last few decades. I w
 ill discuss how colonial planning has been used as a tool of social\, de
 mographic and spatial control and how Palestinian claims for the right t
 o the city are meaningful political forms of protest. The presentation w
 ill refer to Palestinian cities (such as Lydda) that were transformed in
 to “Jewish-Arab mixed cities”\, to new “Jewish cities” that are going th
 rough a process of “Arabisation”\, to Jerusalem as a neo-apartheid city\
 , and to the current spatiocide of Gaza.\n\nChloe Chbat: PhD researcher
