DESCRIPTION:Digital Futures Innovation Clubs help to build communities of
  practice around key digital research technologies and provide a forum f
 or researchers to share their knowledge\, experience and practical skill
 s in these areas. Club activity aligns closely with Digital Futures them
 e communities\, particularly in the six capability themes of Data Scienc
 e & AI\, Digital Trust & Security\, Human-centred Design\, Social Media 
 & Networks and Internet of Things\, which will also be of interest to cl
 ub members. This activity is also part of wider IT club activity Computa
 tion and Data in research (CaDiR).\n\nThis event will give an overview o
 f each club and spotlight projects\, facilities and potential collaborat
 ion opportunities between the clubs and Digital Futures themes. \n\nWhat
  are the clubs?\n\nThere are currently six active club communities:\n\nV

 n•	Access to a mechanism to foster collaborative ideas and projects\n\n•
 	Opportunities to pool research technology resources\, share equipment a
 nd the opportunity to collaborate with others in different fields and ap
 ply for technology-focused funding/grants together\n\n•	Opportunity to m
 eet researchers across different disciplines with similar technology int
 erest\, but differing research questions\n\n•	Access to a robust communi
 ty of Early Career Researchers to collaborate with\n\n•	Collaboration li
 nks with the Digital Futures research themes\n\nWhat do clubs do?\n\nMos
 t clubs meet monthly to:\n\n•	Present their research and discuss stickin
 g points that the community may be able to help them with\n\n•	Find new 
 collaboration partners from across the University\n\n•	Ask questions wit
 hin the community so that members can share experience/ideas to save tim
 e\n\n•	Share ideas on funding calls that are relevant to the community\n
 \n•	Share equipment (if free) and resources\n\n•	Discuss technology/meth
 odology advances and provide advice on what to/not to buy\n\n•	Advertise
  talks that may be of interest to the community & widen participation ac
 ross campus.\n\n•	Occasionally we are able to schedule a speaker in the 
 research area.\n\nEach club has a dedicated Microsoft Teams space to net
 work\, share research updates\, ask for advice or input from other club 
 members\, and receive information about upcoming club meetings. Clubs wi
 ll meet for coffee from early 2022\, in addition to some meetings contin
 uing virtually\, and we will run a larger face to face showcase next spr
 ing. \n
