Digital reach through communication: Twitter and opinion writing workshop

This is the first in a handful of NIHR Manchester BRC digital communication workshops, which will focus on how utilising digital communication tools and channels can improve research dissemination and impact.

This workshop is aimed at those wanting to find out more about how they can use Twitter and online opinion writing platforms, to share their research with a wider audience and facilitate discussion and debate.

The morning will be split into two one-hour training sessions, allowing research staff to explore and gain hands on experience of using Twitter and writing opinion and news pieces.

There will also be a short presentation on Altmetric, looking at online measurement and tracking and a researcher's insight into creating a digital presence.

Learning outcomes will include:

An overview of Twitter and how to create engaging content and conversation.

An insight into opinion writing and online platforms.

An understanding of digital impact and evaluation and the role they place in research impact.

Date: Friday 15 February 2019, 9:00-13:00

Venue: The Nowgen Centre, 29 Grafton St, Manchester, M13 9WU
