DESCRIPTION:Workshop: How to maximise policy impact\, locally and via UK 
 Parliament\n\nDelivered by the Parliamentary Office of Science and Techn
 ology (POST)\, including a speaker from the Greater Manchester Combined 
 Authorities (GMCA)\n\nThe program begins with a regional angle\, provide
 d by a GMCA representative who will give a short overview of how researc
 h can help to shape policy and thinking in Greater Manchester\, looking 
 at different ways to engage and the resulting benefits. \n\nThe POST wor
 kshop gives an overview of how UK Parliament uses research\, and covers 
 ways to work with the institution including details on Select Committees
 \, legislative scrutiny\, the House of Commons and House of Lords librar
 ies\, and POST. The sessions will be interactive and practical\, deliver
 ed by Parliament’s Knowledge Exchange unit. You will leave with an under
 standing of how research is used in the UK Parliament\, and able to iden
 tify opportunities to feed your research into Parliament’s work. \n\nThe
  afternoon session will focus on how to maximise REF impact\, and how Pa
 rliament is feeding into the new knowledge exchange framework (KEF). It 
 is envisaged that academics and PS staff involved with REF 2021\, for ex
 ample UOA Leads/Impact Leads\, School Research Directors\, KE&IOs \n
