DESCRIPTION:The private diaries of Alison Uttley\n\nIn May 2009 the edite
 d Private Diaries of the renowned children’s author and Manchester gradu
 ate Alison Uttley were published\, to mark the 125th year of her birth. 
 The diaries were edited by Professor Denis Judd\, who had previously wri
 tten her biography. The diaries reveal a different side to the writer wh
 ose husband committed suicide and whose close relationship with her son 
 is recorded in detail. \n\nOn Tuesday\, 13 October 2009 The University o
 f Manchester Alumni Association will be joined by acclaimed biographer P
 rofessor Judd who will share some of the other revelations uncovered in 
 the diaries. Alumni are invited to attend and will be offered afternoon 
 tea in the charming Christie Bistro before hearing from Professor Judd.\

 h jam and clotted cream and assorted cakes).   \n5.00 pm  Professor Deni
 s Judd will begin his talk which will include a video show and readings 
 from the diary.  There will also be an opportunity for questions and ans
 wers.    \n7.00 pm  Sparking wine will be served and there will be a cha
 nce to mingle with other alumni.  The diaries will be available for purc
 hase at a reduced rate. \n
