DESCRIPTION:The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new
  opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to partici
 pate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education aw
 areness activities.\n\nThe Y7 Familiarisation Visit is a generic introdu
 ction to university with subject-specific taster sessions offered in one
  of the three subject areas: \n\n•	Science\, Technology\, Engineering & 
 Maths (STEM) \n•	Medical\, Human and Life Sciences \n•	Humanities\n\nStu
 dents will be taken on a behind-the-scenes campus tour of our Oxford Roa
 d Campus\, to include the John Rylands University Library\, the Whitwort
 h Hall and John Owens Quadrangle\, a lecture theatre & seminar room\, th
 e Students' Union and the Refectory. Students will then take part in a 2
  hour session designed to introduce them to some of the subjects that ca
 n be studied at university and test their current knowledge and their pr
 oblem-solving and team-work skills.\n
