DESCRIPTION:Funded and organised in partnership with the local Royal Soci
 ety of Chemistry\, this annual lecture runs in Manchester and Bolton.\n\
 nThe “John Salthouse lecture”\, named in honour of former staff member D
 r John Salthouse (who toured similar spectacular chemistry demonstration
  lectures around the country and even around the world) consists of a Fl
 ash Bang Show.\n\nAn extravaganza of sound and vision that will definite
 ly catch your attention and your enthusiasm.  Exciting experiments\, fea
 turing sudden colour changes\, chemical clocks\, fizzes\, whizzes\, fire
 works\, flashes\, welding\, melding\, crashes and bangs\, give you a bas
 ic introduction to the world of atoms\, molecules\, solids\, liquids and
  gases. \n\nSuitable for all ages (although very young children with sen
 sitive ears might not like the louder explosions).  \n\nThe lecture plac
 es (up to 30 per school) are provided free of charge. If you are not on 
 the mailing list to which details are posted around September each year\
 , please get in touch.\n\nThese lectures help to enthuse around 1\,000 c
